Training and Professional Development
Kimochis® Australia offers training to educators, professionals, and parents. Our training equips participants to use Kimochis® characters and tools in their day to day context.
We offer the following training options to individuals and groups, both online and in person*:
- Kimochis® Foundations
- Kimochis® Foundations for Early Childhood
- Kimochis® Advanced
*Please note: In person training is currently only available in South Australia.
Kimochis® Foundations
Our Kimochis® Foundations training equips individuals to use Kimochis® with a broad understanding of the key concepts of Kimochis® and includes practical activities and discussion. The focus of this training is on primary school aged children, with some tips for working with younger children.
The workshop includes
- How to introduce and use the 5 main Kimochis® Characters
- How to introduce and use the Keys to Communication™
- How to introduce and use feelings pillows
- An introduction to Emotion Coaching using Kimochis
- An introduction to Kotowazas (wise sayings)
- Demonstrations of activities suitable for both one-on-one and group sessions
On completion of the Kimochis® Foundations training all participants will receive access to useful resources and videos.
Kimochis® Foundations for Early Childhood
Our Kimochis® Foundations for Early Childhood training is tailored for understanding and implementing the key concepts of Kimochis® in the context of 3-6 year olds. It includes practical activities, and role plays to help participants get a feel for using Kimochis® in a practical way.
The workshop includes:
- How to introduce and use the 5 main Kimochis® Characters
- How to introduce and use the Keys to Communication™
- How to use the Kimochis feelings pillows to Emotion Coach younger children
- Introduction to Kotowazas (wise sayings)
- Using Kimochis® throughout the day in play areas/stations
- Multiple games and activities to use Kimochis® with young children
On completion of the Kimochis® Foundations training all participants will receive access to useful resources and videos.
Kimochis® Coaching Online
1 hour online coaching sessions, bespoke to your Centre, are available on request and for a fee. Please contact us for further information.
Additional Group Trainings Available on Request
Kimochis® Advanced
This 4-hour training is designed to help your organisation take their use of Kimochis® to a new level. With peer-based learning opportunities, Kimochis® Advanced offers a deeper dive into the social and emotional learning capabilities of Kimochis®.
Kimochis® Advanced is generally run on-site at your location. A trainer will come to you. Pre-training material and activities will be sent to each participant before the Kimochis® Advanced training. Participants are required to do the pre-training preparation to encourage an enriching mutual learning experience on the day.
*Please note: Kimochis® Foundations Training and experience using the resource is a pre-requisite for Kimochis® Advanced training.
Kimochis® for Parents and Caregivers
This training is designed to help parents and caregivers deepen their understanding of emotional development in early childhood and primary years. Participants learn practical emotion-coaching skills, strategies to support children in expressing their emotions, ways to reinforce school language and learning at home, and fostering stronger family connections.
Individual Bookings
Kimochis® Foundations
In-Person – The in-person training runs from 9am – 3:30pm and includes both morning tea and lunch. It is held at Schools Ministry Group, 12 Angas Street Edwardstown, SA. There is no pre-training material for in-person training.
Online (Zoom) - The Online training workshops are 9am-3pm ACST. Links to pre-training materials are sent after registration.
Participants are asked to print some resources to have with them on the day of online training.
A zoom link will be provided on an online learning platform and a reminder email sent a week before training.
Kimochis® Foundations for Groups
Group training is available either in person or via zoom (by negotiation).
In-Person Group– The in-person training runs from 9am – 3:30pm at your chosen location. A trainer will come to you. You are responsible for the room set up, advertising and catering options. There is no pre-training material for in-person training.
Online Group (Zoom) - The Online training workshops are 9am-3pm ACST. Links to pre-training materials are sent after registration.
A group nominee is asked to print some resources to distribute to their group’s participants to have with them on the day of online training.
A zoom link will be provided on an online learning platform and a reminder email sent a week before training.
